Guides — practical playbooks for independent hoteliers.
Every guide on this page is written by someone who has actually done the work at Talk with Guest. No SEO stubs, no vendor slide decks translated into blog posts. If a piece is not opinionated enough to be worth reading in one sitting, it does not go on this shelf.

Your first week with Talk with Guest
A day-by-day walkthrough of the first seven days on the platform — from kickoff call to the first WhatsApp templates going live at reception. Written by the onboarding team, not marketing.

Connecting Booking.com and Expedia through Talkguest
The end-to-end connection sequence for the two OTAs that matter most to European independents, including rate mapping edge cases and cancellation-policy alignment.

WhatsApp Business API setup for independent hotels
Meta Business Manager verification, phone provisioning, template approval and quality-rating maintenance without the horror stories usually associated with WABA rollouts.

Everything that has to be true on the website, the booking engine and the guest journey for a boutique to sustainably shift channel mix from 74% OTA to 55% OTA.

Rate parity strategy — a working defence, not a religion
What actual parity clauses say in 2026, how they interact with Portuguese competition rules, and the four legal levers you can pull to prefer your direct channel.

The housekeeping mobile workflow that saves twenty minutes per room
How to configure the Talk with Guest housekeeping app on cheap Android handsets so a two-person team runs a 40-room boutique without a paper board.

VAT and invoicing for hotels in Portugal
How Talkguest issues AT-compliant facturas, the six VAT scenarios that trip up independents on Portuguese soil, and the exact settings for a 6% reduced-rate stay.

A staff permissions audit you can run in 45 minutes
A pragmatic recurring exercise that keeps roles clean when the property has seasonal staff, extras, night receptionists and the owner's cousin all with logins.
Who writes these and why
Every guide is authored by a named member of the Talk with Guest team — usually from onboarding, revenue advisory, or the security engineering group — and reviewed by at least one hotel operator using the Talkguest platform in production. If a claim is quantified, the number comes from real properties on the platform (aggregated so no individual hotel is identifiable), never from a slide deck. When something changes on the platform, the guide changes with it, and the "last reviewed" date at the foot of every page is bumped in the same release.
The Guest Talk resource shelf is not the place to find one-thousand-word essays that could have been three hundred. Every guide is written to be finished. If you want a shorter answer, use the FAQ. If you want the platform reference, look in the Docs section. If you want customer stories, they sit on the Customers page. If you want the migration hub for coming off another PMS, start at migration.
