Channel Manager

The Channel Manager is a bidirectional pipe between the Talk with Guest inventory and every OTA that sells the property's rooms. Fifty-five channels are supported natively, from the global giants to regional players like HRS in Germany or Wotif in Australia — and the same code path handles two-way sync everywhere, so there is no second-class channel that only receives updates.

Rates and availability changes propagate to every connected channel within seconds. If a reservation drops in from Booking at 18:04:12, that room is closed on every other channel by 18:04:15. There is no nightly reconciliation, no polling delay, no manual refresh — it is genuinely real time.

Yield rules let the revenue team protect margin channel by channel. Block a channel automatically when the local commission ceiling makes it uneconomical. Restrict HostelWorld on peak weekends when direct demand will fill the beds. Add a length-of-stay minimum on Airbnb when a specific date range shows unusually high pickup. All of these fire without a human touching the rates screen.

The overbooking safety net is deliberately conservative. If two channels somehow race to the same last room, Talkguest will accept both reservations, immediately flag the conflict on the tape chart with a visible marker, and offer the receptionist a walk-options list. In practice this happens on well under one in ten thousand reservations, but when it does it is transparent, not hidden.

Setup is done inside Talk with Guest itself. Connect a channel, pick which room types map to which listings, map rate plans, and start syncing. The connection status of every channel is shown on the operations dashboard — green if healthy, amber if a channel is temporarily throttling requests, red if credentials need re-authenticating.

Every channel decision is logged. When a receptionist opens a rate on Booking above the parity floor to burn peak inventory, that action carries an audit line that group management can review the next morning without asking who did what and why.
