Talkguest vs Sirvoy — messaging-native operations vs a light booking system.
Guest Talk and Sirvoy are shortlisted by small hostels and independent hotels looking for a modern replacement for a spreadsheet-plus-Booking.com workflow. They have very different centres of gravity — this page describes the trade-off honestly so you can pick the one that fits your operation.
What each platform is, in one paragraph
Sirvoy is a lightweight, well-priced booking and PMS system used by small hotels, guesthouses and B&Bs around the world. Its strength is simplicity and price — a serviceable calendar, an included booking engine, an OTA-connected channel manager and email confirmations, delivered at a very approachable monthly cost. It suits properties that want to graduate from a spreadsheet without adopting a full operations platform.
Talkguest is a messaging-native operations hub for independent Portuguese properties between roughly 8 and 200 keys. Its strength is depth in guest messaging, factura and channel-manager two-way sync, delivered as a per-property flat price. It suits properties whose day is shaped by guest conversations rather than by a booking calendar — boutique hotels, hostels and aparthotels where WhatsApp is the primary channel and where the platform must handle the operation, not just the reservations.

The messaging axis, which decides the platform
Sirvoy handles guest communication the way a booking system does: confirmation emails, cancellation emails, a reminder before arrival, a thank-you after departure. That is enough for a property whose guests do not expect a conversation before check-in — small guesthouses, B&Bs, seasonal rentals in rural markets. It works well and it is priced accordingly.
Talkguest handles guest communication the way an operations team does: WhatsApp Business as a first-class channel, a shared inbox that maps to reservations, template management with variable substitution, 24-hour session-window compliance, media handling, group chat, multilingual routing and automatic assignment across shifts. That depth exists because the properties we serve — urban boutiques, hostel networks, aparthotels serving digital nomads — have guests who message. A boutique in Chiado, a hostel in Ribeira and an aparthotel in Ponta do Sol all live and die by their WhatsApp response time.
If your property does not treat WhatsApp as the primary channel, the depth Talkguest brings on this axis is not a benefit. If your property does, Sirvoy's email-first model becomes a limitation the day after you go live.
Cheaper is not always cheaper
Sirvoy's entry pricing is meaningfully lower than Talkguest's, and for the properties Sirvoy targets that is the right pricing model. For a 10-room guesthouse the total cost of ownership on Sirvoy will beat Talkguest handily, and we would say so honestly — Talkguest is not the right platform at that size.
For a boutique of 24 keys that also needs WhatsApp, factura and multi-property support, the picture changes. Adding a WhatsApp connector, a factura tool and a second-property reporting workaround on top of Sirvoy pushes the effective monthly cost close to Talkguest's flat rate, without integrating the pieces. How the move from Sirvoy to Talkguest actually runs
Sirvoy is one of the source systems Talkguest's migration team has run several times. Guest profiles, upcoming reservations, existing OTA mappings and rate plans come across in a ten-working-day window with a dedicated migration engineer. The channel-manager cutover is a single afternoon; WhatsApp Business goes live the same week. Historic factura data — if a property has been using a third-party factura tool — is imported into the Guest CRM as an audit trail; new factura sequences begin from a fresh AT-registered series.
Read the migration hub for the specific playbook and see the Solar do Chiado case study for a boutique that made a similar move from a lightweight system to a full operations hub.
One practical note for properties evaluating the move: Sirvoy's rate-plan model and Talkguest's rate-plan model are close enough that the mapping is usually one-to-one. The exception is when a property has been running many small rate plans as a workaround for restrictions Talkguest handles natively — minimum-length-of-stay overrides, day-of-week pricing, corporate-guest overrides. During kick-off the migration engineer identifies those cases and consolidates them onto Talkguest's model, which usually reduces the number of rate plans the property has to think about by a third.
The honest disclaimer
Sirvoy is the better fit if your property is a small guesthouse, B&B or rural hotel below about 12 rooms, if your guests are largely email-driven, if you want the simplest possible platform at the lowest possible price, and if Portuguese factura is handled elsewhere. In all four cases we would recommend Sirvoy without hesitation.
Talkguest is the better fit if your property is above 12 keys, if WhatsApp is your primary guest channel, if factura and SAF-T (PT) matter to your accountant, and if you want the platform to run the whole operation rather than the reservations alone. If that is your property, start at the get-access page or read the guest-messaging module page for the WhatsApp depth Talkguest ships.
